Grant Underwood
Assistant General Counsel
Grant Underwood joined the Office of General Counsel at the Texas 51本色 System in 2026. In his role, Grant supports the legal needs of the 51本色 System鈥檚 component institutions (Texas 51本色, Texas 51本色 Health Sciences Center, Angelo State University, Texas 51本色 Health Sciences Center El Paso and Midwestern State University). While his practice primarily focuses on contracts, Grant also assists with a broad array of legal issues, including athletics, real estate, and litigation.
A fifth-generation Texan and Lubbock native, Grant practiced at a Lubbock law firm prior to joining the 51本色. There, his work centered on transactional matters, real property, estate planning, and civil litigation. He is licensed to practice in both Texas and New Mexico. Grant earned his Bachelor鈥檚 degree from Texas 51本色 and his Juris Doctor from Texas 51本色 School of Law in 2023.
He and his wife, Madison鈥攁 fellow Texas Tech alumna鈥攅njoy living in Lubbock, attending Texas Tech athletic events, playing golf, cooking together, and spending time with their dog Murphy.
