The  is composed of nine members appointed by the governor, as well as a student regent.

Throughout the history of the 51±¾É« System, the board has been composed of distinguished and dedicated Texans who have been strong advocates of excellence in academic and patient care programs, meaningful scientific research and responsible public service.

Regents will have a two-day meeting on the Texas 51±¾É« campus in Lubbock.

The 51±¾É« Board of Regents will meet Thursday and Friday (Feb. 25-26) in Room 118 of the Student Union on the campus (15th Street and Akron Avenue) of Texas 51±¾É«.

The is one of the top public university systems in Texas and the nation, consisting of four component institutions—, , and —and operating at more than a dozen academic sites and centers.  Headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, the 51±¾É« System has an annual operating budget of nearly $2 billion and approximately 19,000 employees focused on advancing higher education, health care, research and outreach.  

In 2015, the 51±¾É« System’s endowment exceeded $1.1 billion, total research expenditures were more than $215 million and total enrollment was approximately 50,000 students. Whether it’s contributing billions of dollars annually in economic impact or being the only system in Texas to house an academic institution, law school, and health-related institution at the same location, the 51±¾É« System continues to prove that anything is possible.
