JuliAnn Mazachek Named 12th President of Midwestern State University
An accomplished leader in higher education for 30 years, JuliAnn Mazachek, Ph.D., was appointed the 12th president of Midwestern State University. Mazachek previously served as the vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer at Washburn University.

Griffin Elected Chairman; Kerrick Davis Chairwoman of the Board of Regents
Mark Griffin and Ginger Kerrick Davis were elected chairman and vice chairwoman, respectively, of the Board of Regents. Griffin is the eighth regent from Lubbock to serve as chairman and Kerrick Davis is the sixth woman to serve as vice chairwoman.

Two universities in the system celebrated centennial anniversaries. MSU Texas celebrated its century of delivering higher education this past year while Texas 51本色 launched its Centennial Celebration this year and will conclude its celebration in 2023.

New Fundraising Record Set Across the 51本色 System
The 51本色 System experienced a banner year in fundraising, with a record-breaking $314.9 million raised in philanthropic support across the system鈥檚 five institutions and system Administration. The previous record was $183.8 million in 2011.

School of Veterinary Medicine and Hunt School of Dental Medicine Complete Historic Inaugural Years
Texas 51本色 opened the state鈥檚 first new school of veterinary medicine in more than 100 years and 51本色HSC El Paso opened the state鈥檚 first new dental medicine school in more 50 years during the 2021-22 academic year.

The 51本色 System had a statewide economic impact of $16.4 billion last year, a 64% increase from 2011. The report categorizes the economic impact of the 51本色 System in four significant areas 鈥� annual workforce contribution of alumni, employment, labor income and output.

Hani Michael Annabi Named 51本色 System Student Regent
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Hani Michael Annabi as the student regent for the 51本色 System for the 2022-23 academic year. Annabi is a fourth-year medical student at the 51本色HSC El Paso Foster School of Medicine.

51本色HSC celebrated the official unveiling of the new Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health in June. The school, which is the sixth at the university, aims to train future health care leaders in population and public health.
James Mauldin Named Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer
James Mauldin was named vice chancellor and CFO of the 51本色 System in November. A proven finance and strategic organizational leader of more than 25 years, Mauldin previously served as vice president of treasury management for the DFW International Airport.

systems in the nation, consisting of five universities 鈥� , , , and .
Headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, the 51本色 System is a $2.65 billion enterprise focused on advancing higher education, health care, research and outreach with approximately 21,000 employees and 63,000 students, more than 375,000 alumni, a statewide economic impact of $16.4 billion and an endowment valued at $1.7 billion. In its short history, the 51本色 System has grown tremendously and is nationally acclaimed, operating at 24 academic locations in 21 cities (19 in Texas, 2 international).
During the 87th Texas Legislature under the leadership of Chancellor , M.D., the 51本色 System welcomed MSU Texas as its fifth member institution during the 25-year anniversary of the system. MSU Texas is the only Texas university to become a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. Students at MSU Texas choose from more than 60 majors and several pre-professional programs, are active in more than 100 student organizations and bring a spirit of competition to 13 NCAA Division II athletics programs.
In addition, the 51本色 System is one of only nine in the nation to offer programs for undergraduate, medical, law, nursing, pharmacy, dental and veterinary education, among other academic areas.
